Get Wildwood's CD!
The release of our first CD on Guapster Records, Out On A Limb, took place on July 1, 2002.

That was great fun. We hope you will enjoy this CD with our mix of acoustic folk vocals and
instrumentals, ranging from Bill Monroe 'real' bluegrass to an outstanding original contribution
from our own Paul Beeler. The Out On A Limb CD comes packaged in a CD jewel box with an

Wildwood General Information
Wildwood is an acoustic group formed in January, 2000 on the California Central Coast. We perform
an upbeat mix of acoustic folk and bluegrass, from ballads to breakdowns. Wildwood is available to
entertain at private parties, coffee shops, and saloons. We do tunes ranging from Bob Dylan to
modern folk ballads of Townes Van Zandt, Michael Murphy, John Fogerty, Steve Goodman, and Jean
Ritchie, traditional bluegrass of Bill Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs, and Jim and Jesse, and progressive
bluegrass of Del McCoury, Herb Pederson, Country Gentlemen, and The Seldom Scene. We also perform
some great songs written by our own talented songwriter, Paul Beeler.
For bookings, please see contact information below.
Wildwood features:
- PAUL BEELER on rhythm guitar and vocals
Paul, a rock of rhythmic stability and vocalist/songwriter extraordinaire, has over 20 years
experience playing,
singing, and performing folk and Celtic music in a variety of groups and locations. With home
on the Central Coast for the last 10 years, he's known as one of the best singers around these
parts and solidly sets the lead vocal for most of Wildwood's tunes and sets us up with tight
rhythm flat-top guitar. We also perform some great Paul Beeler original songs!
- JULIO BOYSENBERRY on 5 string banjo and vocals
Julio is a man of many talents, surrounded by a dark veil of mystery cloaking the dim recesses
of his chequered past. Hailing from Southern California, now a fixture on the Central Coast
and a wizard of the 5-string banjo for over 30 years, Julio's driving Wildwood's bluegrass sounds
with the best-sounding Scruggs-style banjo on the Central Coast and is occasionally coerced into
blending harmony with Paul's lead vocals.
- DAN WOLF on Dobro acoustic steel guitar
AKA Dr. Dan, he gave up a promising career in academics after being seduced by the sound of
Dobro music in the early 1970s as a graduate student and later stumbled into advanced Dobro
studies with Dobro greats such as Mike Auldridge, Sally Van Meter, and the late incomparable
artist Ken Eidson. Having fallen completely off the upward professional track, Dan occasionally
peeked out from behind the web cams and video computers to appear on the Central Coast as an
illegal San Luis Obispo Farmer's Market performer and with The Glen Diamond Trio and The Dolores
Talbert Trio (also with Julio on banjo). You can blame him for this web site and also the
ludicrous length of this bio. When asked how he found Santa Maria, Dr. Dan said: "Turn left
at Greenland."
- GUAPO THE WONDERDOG - Our Mascot
Guapo appeared mysteriously on the doorstep of Julio Boysenberry's family a few years ago.
His ancestry is as mysterious as his origins, but he's surely related to Jack Russel Terriers.
Lord of All He Surveys, Guapo's regal bearing adds majesty and dignity to our rehearsals and
all events he is able to attend, given his very busy social schedule. Guapo is in great
demand for personal appearances. Guapo's songwriting and arranging skills have been questioned
by experts, but we trust his musical sensibilities and credit him with much of our modest success.
His closest friends call him 'The Guapster'.
Formed when Paul Beeler joined an ongoing musical partnership already in progress with Julio and Dan,
Wildwood's debut performance was at the Frog and Peach Pub in July, 2000. We also performed at
the Santa Ynez Mission Fiesta in Solvang, The Frog and Peach Pub, Rudolph's,
Linnaea's, Cisco's, and Mother's Tavern in SLO, Higher Groundz and Cafe Ole in Santa Maria,
Kelley's in Cayucos, The Coffee House and Last Stage West in Atascadero, Meridian Vineyards
in Paso Robles, A.J.Spurs in Buellton, and more. Upcoming performances are listed below.

Download Wildwood MP3 Files
Here are a *bunch* of MP3s we've gathered from bits and pieces studio sessions as we worked toward our first CD completion. These are excerpts of about 1 minute so the download times will be fairly swift for you (only about 1 megabyte file size).
Fireball by Buck Graves, Lester Flatt, and Earl Scruggs (Scruggs Music). Lots of great recordings of this. The first one I heard is on vinyl; an LP entitled Something Different (Josh Graves and Kenny Baker, Puritan #5001). Good luck finding that one! All Dobro players love to try this one.
Blue Water Levee by Paul Beeler (c)1992 by Paul Beeler. Here's a beautiful original ballad sung by the songwriter himself. Paul says he originally intended this as an up-tempo fast song, but changed his mind. We like it better as a ballad, too.
Bells of St. Mary's Here's a beautiful bit of banjo virtuosity played by Julio Boysenberry.
Across The Great Divide Words and music by Kate Wolf. Sung by Paul Beeler.
Kentucky Mandolin by Bill Monroe. We don't have a mandolin in the group, so you'll have to settle for Dan on Dobro and Julio on Banjo.
Blackjack County Chains by Red Lane. Paul sings this bluesy ballad we heard performed first by The Del McCoury Band.
